About Us

Our Vision & Purpose

“Nyawa! Look! Our vision for the NPY region is for Aṉangu to lead healthy and meaningful lives in safe and positive communities where people have improved life choices, while maintaining culture and language.”

Through extensive community consultation, Aṉangu across all communities in the NPY region have clearly shared their priorities and concerns.

These priorities form the cornerstone for our work, which we are advancing in close collaboration with Aṉangu families, local communities, service providers and Government.

Learn about the background to, and what we are doing about these priorities, here

Empowered Communities around Australia

Empowered Communities is a national initiative operating in ten sites throughout Australia. Learn more about the work of Empowered Communities at these different sites by clicking on the map links.

You can read more about the Empowered Communities National model in the Design Report here.

The Design Report was published in 2015 following 18 months of engagement and design work by Indigenous leaders, communities and organisations across the Empowered Communities regions.

Our Members & Partners

NPY Empowered Communities is an alliance of local Aboriginal organisations working in partnership across the NPY region. ‘Tjungu’ (together) we are a strong, united voice speaking up and working in the interests of Aṉangu families and communities.

Our members are advocates, service providers, land councils, enterprises and employment providers who deliver valuable programs that maintain the land, health, culture and well-being of our communities.

With Aṉangu at the centre of our work, we believe that through the Empowered Communities partnership, we are stronger in speaking up for empowerment and change in the region.

Our Members

We welcome new members to join Kulintja Kutju and the national Empowered Communities partnership.

Anangu organisations who support our principles and approach to Anangu empowerment are welcome.

Contact us if you’d like to know more.

Our Partners

NPY Empowered Communities works in partnership with Government, service providers and businesses to deliver transformative change for Anangu in the region.

Empowered Communities seeks to create a genuine and balanced partnership between Indigenous organisations, Government and corporate Australia, where everybody is working together on a level playing field towards a shared strategy.
